It was expected and as well as predicted (in our box-office report) that the Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, and Rishi Kapoor starrer, AGNEEPATH, was all set for a bumper start. But the opening of the Karan Malhotra directed film surpassed our expectations, and the start can only be termed as earth-shattering.
The first day (Republic Day holiday) saw occupancies in the range of 95-100 percent in almost all the circuits, barring Rajasthan, which was a tad lower, hovering between 80-85 percent. The story was similar from Mumbai to Muzaffarpur and Hyderabad to Haldwani, which in a nutshell means both at the mass and class centers.
As things stand today, AGNEEPATH has already smashed BODYGUARD's first day record of 21 crore, and in the process it may also have broken RA.ONE's best ever single day figure of 23 crore (to be confirmed) by netting over 23 crores. And it will not be a surprise if a new 4-day weekend record is established as well!
Looking at the overwhelming response, an elated Priyanka Chopra said, ''AGNEEPATH has redefined the power of Indian box office for all of us. It's heartening to see the strength of the Indian cinema audiences growing like this. We all were very confident of the film but for this kind of success and unprecedented number that it has posted on day one we must thank our audience.''
The 75 crore (all inclusive) AGNEEPATH is sure to be a clean hit if not a super hit and reaffirms Hrithik Roshan's never in doubt star power!
