In the business where two heroines sharing screen space are known for getting into an insecure zone, Deepika Padukone says that it was all the more fun to have Diana Penty as her co-star. Also, there was some girl bonding at play as well even as Diana enjoyed her liberal share of publicity with the film.
"And again, credit here goes not just to the way the film was written but also certain comfort that the three of us, including Saif, shared off screen. Audience can see that we are having so much of fun in the film and that's mainly because it was the same emotion we felt and experienced during the filming as well. It was due to this very fact that all the laughter and other light hearted moments were spontaneous instead of being forced. Diana is a sweet girl and we clicked well," smiles Deepika.
Now that the film is gearing up for release, one can see that she and Diana are not really a part of a conventional triangular love story. However during signing the film, didn't she ever worry that audience may perceive it to be yet another love story and may look at it with suspicion.
"See, to begin what I don't really know what quintessential really stands for. LOVE AAJ KAL was a love story too but was it quintessential? Or for that matter even BREAK KE BAAD? What attracted me to COCKTAIL was the fact that it was not just about love but also a lot about friendship, relationships and the decisions you make in life. Of course there are different shades that come in every love story and being conventional is passe," says Deepika before signing off.
