While Kalki Koechlin is busy travelling currently for her multiple film assignments, there was extended time duration during the year gone by when she was contemplating her next moves. Now with films like EK THI DAAYAN and YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI happening for her, can one presume that it is the best time for her to be in Bollywood?
Says after a pause, "Well, I don't know whether this is the best or the worst time. I am just plain happy that today I am here and doing the kind of work I wanted to. Guess one has to be patient enough to find right kind of work. There have been phases in my life when I didn't have work. After DEV D I didn't face the camera for one and a half years. Even SHANGHAI was completed a year back and then there was a huge gap. There were gaps in between but then I waited since I wanted to do certain kind of films. Guess the wait has been worth it."
However SHANGHAI didn't quite hit the bull's eye as far as its commercial response was concerned. Even though the film got glowing reviews from all most, the film couldn't really cover the distance at the box office.
"Regardless of that Dibakar (Banerjee) would stay on to be a special director. I have always loved his films and he tried to do something out of the box and pushed the boundaries of what you usually see in Bollywood. The very fact that he shrugged off the stereotypes of all actors, be it Emraan (Hashmi), Abhay (Deol) or others has been a win in itself," concludes Kalki.
Here is hoping that there are much bigger wins scored in your subsequent films at the box office.
