PM assured Aamir to end manual scavenging

After the meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss the plight of manual scavengers engaged in cleaning human waste, Aamir said that the PM has assured him that he will look into the matter.

"Today I met the Prime Minister to discuss on the issue of manual scavenging," Aamir told while addressing a press conference on Monday.

"I urged him to end the practice," he said.

"The PM assured that he will look into the matter and also sent me to meet Mukulji (Mukul Wasnik, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment)," Aamir said.

Aamir further told that Wasnik has assured him that the ministry is working on the matter.
