There are some directors with whom Sunny Deol has formed a lifelong bond. Anil Sharma happens to be one such director. Now that the actor is looking at his new innings ahead, Sharma has brought with him the subject of SINGH SAHEB THE GREAT which is all set to go on floors soon. The film, which is set in current times with Sunny playing a collector, isn't all about action though. There is quite a lot of drama involved with an inherent humour forming a part of Sunny's characterisation.
"Yes, Sunny would also be bringing in a lot of humour in the proceedings. This adds on to the entertainment since the film has been designed as a full-on commercial flick. This is the kind of film which audience wants; this is the kind of cinema I also want to make. Whether it is good or bad isn't something that I know but what I know for sure is that I can make such cinema pretty well," says Sharma.
SUNNY DEOL and ANIL SHARMA
Attached to the Deol family for decades (he has made quite a few blockbusters with Dharmendra as well), Sharma gave Sunny his biggest all time blockbuster till date in the form of GADAR-EK PREM KATHA. Now when SSTG was being conceptualized, Sunny was Sharma's obvious choice.
"That's right, Sunny was the one and only choice for the character of Singh Sahib. As a friend of Sunny and a director who has worked with him in many films, I realise his true power. I firmly believe that a personality like Sunny Deol hasn't come in 100 years of Indian cinema. Uski raw power aisi hai jo aur koyi actor laa hi nahi sakta. I am sure everyone agrees that the kind of power in his action is unmatchable."
The film goes on floors in the month of November. Meanwhile the wait is on for the name of the leading lady to be announced soon.
