When it came to ROWDY RATHORE, Akshay Kumar pretty much promised that 'Jo Main Bolta Hoon Woh Main Karta Hoon...'. Well, the way his film is doing at the box office today, it is clear that he has fulfilled his promise.
"The film has been given a go-ahead by the 'janta' and though a few critics may have panned the film, it has been proven once again that audience has its own idea about entertainment. It is the call of 'rowdy' all over and not just the weekend collections but even very good weekdays pretty much prove that," comments a trade pundit.
This is pretty much driven from the fact that the film has taken best opening ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer, hence beating his own HOUSEFULL 2 which was released exactly two months back. What makes the success sweeter is the fact that ROWDY RATHORE was released on a non-holiday Friday and that too just a day after 'bharat bandh'. Moreover it also had to face obstacles from uncertainty around its multiplex release due to which advance booking opened pretty late in the day.
With the film finding good patronage from the mass audience, it has managed to give Akshay his second success in a row after HOUSEFULL 2. Says a source close to the actor, "Now with the first five days being fantastic, achieving another century should be a cakewalk. The film's success has now further ignited competition at the top."
With everyone from Salman Khan and Aamir Khan to Shahrukh Khan arriving at least with a film each before the close of year and each of them all set for a 100 crore affair each, Bollywood can well brace itself for some exciting times ahead.
