AWARA: Father's Day is the celebration of the relationship that a father has with his son. In the Indian context the relationship between a father and son is not that explicit but it has underpinnings. May be, it is the cultural mooring, whereby the father and the son do not interact at the same levels, its organic link traced from the joint family system. This form of relationship therefore was exploited in great detail in Hindi cinema, first in AWARA by Raj Kapoor where his father Prithvi Raj Kapoor had played his father's role. The best part of the film was at the end where Raj Kapoor concedes that he now wants to become like his father.
