Anurag Kashyap went wild on tweeter yesterday when he found that the sites which have mushroomed promoting the use of posters of GANGS OF WASSEYPUR had been asked to clamp down. It has happened for the first time in the history of Indian cinema that a poster of the film has become a talk of the town and scores of websites were promoted which had put up the poster of GOW as their banner.

The tagline of the poster of GANGS OF WASSEYPUR is "Teri Keh Ke Loonga", which is also a song in the film sung by Sneha Khanwalkar and written by who else but Piyush Mishra. Literally meaning that "I would inform and fxxk you". The reason for the posters going viral is the fact that it establishes an immediate chord with the identity of the individual and the self. It splices the veneer away from the facade of sobriety that society is maintaining and points out to the fact that at the core we all need such cusp words and we use such cusp words in day to day conversations to express our angst, happiness, frustration etc. Most thrilled have been the English speaking elite who indeed have gone viral soaking in the ambience of crudeness presented by GANGS OF WASSEYPUR.

GANGS OF WASSEYPUR conveys the feeling of coming home for the citizens of the country, to identify with the growing years when use of such language was sheer fun, and is it not a fact in Punjab across the board one listens to one such cusp words being used with impunity, which Dibakar Banerjee had highlighted in KHOSLA KA GHOSLA. The cuss words are never considered unparliamentarily but is a harmless expression of frustration, excitement, celebration etc. all.

Another aspect of GOW which has become a link of identity is the dialogue "Ye Wasseypur hai aur yaha parinda bhi udta hai to ek pankh se aur doosre pankh se apna pichwada bacha ke chalte hai." Indeed, for the common man on the street it always is a daily struggle to save his back, and therefore the dialogue has also gone viral.

We all have a latent desire in ourselves to be crude and GOW has given that latent desire a manifestation through its dialogues. GANGS OF WASSEYPUR indeed, therefore, for the dialogues as well, is also going to be a roaring hit for the current.
