Last week's major release, Vidhu Vinod Chopra's FERRARI KI SAWAARI, had a slowish start on the first day and a small pick up on the second day. The Rajesh Mapuskar directed film did see a pronounced jump in collections on Sunday, and as we had had said (in our Saturday update), it brightens the commercial prospects of the Sharman-Boman starrer. The best business obviously comes from the Mumbai circuit. Unfortunately for FERRARI KI SAWAARI the film has been hit hard by the still strong ROWDY RATHORE (though the film is running in the third week). FERRARI KI SAWAARI has also done decently in the overseas (especially US) grossing £81,000 from UK and $ 241,000 in the US, during the opening weekend (15-17 June).
Needless to add that the other two releases of the week, The New Mumbai Talkies and Whispering Shadows Entertainment's QASAM SE QASAM SE and Sir JVM Movies' CHAKRADHAAR, failed to appeal to the audience and are washouts.
