Rohit Shetty: Pseudo intellectuals are questioning BOL BACHCHAN
June 28, 2012 03:44:09 PM IST By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial
If you find Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Prachi Desai giving largely monosyllabic replies to all questions related to BOL BACHCHAN and the characters they are enacting in the film, blame Rohit Shetty for that. The toughie director has given strict instructions to his team not to say a word about the film, the part they are playing and of course, any comparisons whatsoever with Hrishikesh Mukerjee's classic GOLMAAL. Though they can be heard stating the obvious that BOL BACHCHAN has just the germ of GOLMAAL, prod them further and you would most likely be diverted to another topic altogether.
Confirms a source, "Reason behind this is to avoid any kind of controversy or negativity before the film's release. Rohit feels that he has done the job of telling audience what the film is through the promos. Beyond that, he doesn't want any wrong references to be made or any quotes to be misconstrued. He feels that for BOL BACHCHAN in particulars, actors talk as less about the film as possible."
Rohit has his own point of view though. During SINGHAM promotion, he was unduly harassed with questions that challenged similarities with DABANGG. Even though both films were as different from each other as chalk and cheese, he had to find himself in the witness box and address the (untrue) allegations.
No wonder, Rohit doesn't deny the diktat he has established. "I am cautious because I know there are many pseudo-intellectuals out there who have started saying that how could I remake a Hrisihida's classic. I don't want my actors to fall into this trap and start responding to each and every question. So yes, I given strict instructions to my actors that they won't open about my film. Jisko janana hai picture kya hai, woh unse mat pooch, theatre mein aakar khud dekho."
We would like to see that once the film releases all over on 6th July.
