Though Bollywood filmmakers usually have an unwritten pact about not coming in each other's way, especially when it comes to release of their films, it seems like all sense of brotherhood won't really hold true this summer. This is evident from the fact that Sanjay Dutt has decided to take on Chopras head-on even though it was the latter's film that has been finalised for release first.
"Arjun Kapoor would be making his debut with ISHAQZAADE which releases in May. Aditya Chopra has taken a personal interest in launching yet another newcomer in the lead after Ranveer Singh. He is very particular about ISHAQZAADE seeing good hype building for it but seems like Sanjay Dutt may well foil his plans. Now that he has decided to bring DEPARTMENT on the same date, it is going to be the clash of titans, in this case Dutt v/s Chopras", informs our well placed source who has been closely following the progress of both the films. CHECK OUT: Sanjay, Nana & Sonu 'encounter' a common factor!
In fact Ram Gopal Varma has declared DEPARTMENT plans for the first time after a lot of dilly-dallying and it is almost impossible that he would now make way for the Chopras.
"In this entire game of one upmanship, it would be Arjun Kapoor who would have to face the challenge. Now he would have to win audience for himself with so much of competition around", comments an industry insider, "For a newcomer it is anyways a tough road ahead to make a first solid impression. Now with Dutt proving to be a challenge, especially after the appreciations he has gained ever since the release of AGNEEPATH, it is going to be some firecrackers at the box office."
Nevertheless, ISHAQZAADE has its selling points, what with Habib Faisal (director of DO DOONI CHAAR) at the helm of affairs and the perky Parineeti Chopra (who has made a fantastic debut with LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL) as the leading lady. However with Amitabh Bachchan in a major role in DEPARTMENT and Rana Daggubati returning as well after DUM MAARO DUM, this is one clash that is all set to turn heads.
