UTV was always confident about PAAN SINGH TOMAR and believed that the demand for the film would keep building after its release and it would open new markets. Recently, UTV's EK MAIN AUR EKK TU with Dharma Productions and TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA with TIPS industries did phenomenally well in the Gulf region.
And now, PAAN SINGH TOMAR, which earned positive response from critics and audiences, will be released in Gulf countries this Thursday due to its unprecedented running at the box office and huge demand from the overseas.
The movie so far has collected over 9 crores which is commendable considering its shoestring budget of Rs. 4.5 crore. PAAN SINGH TOMAR collected Rs. 7.54 crore in its first week; 60 lakhs on Friday (9 March), 80 lakhs on Saturday (10 March) and 1.10 crores on Sunday (11 March).
"For high concept movies that are not traditionally released overseas due to lack of a big star cast or content that is different from the mainstream, our strategy is to allow for word of mouth from India to spread and for audience demand to build, so that it becomes impossible for distributors and exhibitors to ignore our content. This helps us get better distribution and showcasing for these movies overseas, and we have followed the same strategy in the past for some of our other path breaking content like A WEDNESDAY and WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR. Demand for PAAN SINGH TOMAR has now reached a peak and it is just the right time for us to do an extensive release in the Gulf," said Amrita Pandey, Senior Vice President, International Distribution and Syndication, UTV Motion Pictures.
