He may have been all brawn and muscles in FORCE. However, seems like it was just the beginning of an action era for John Abraham. Not really sure of what really did Sanjay Gupta have in store for him, now that the floodgates are open when it comes to action saga, John Abraham had one of his most tiring days ever as an actor on Monday when he hit dirt (literally so) for a wild physical bout in SHOOTOUT AT WADALA.
''A massively mounted action sequence was conceptualised for him. This was set in jail where John had to get into a battle for survival with actor Chetan Hansraj. The sequence had been choreographed in such a way that John had to get into a fierce hand-on-hand fight and that too in the mud. Though the scene was explained to the most minute detail in a graphical fashion, once inside the mud, John had his way and didn't mind the toll that this fight was taking on his body,'' says a senior crew member. What made this sequence a particularly exhausting affair was the fact that it was shot in the afternoon under the sun which means body fluids were fast running out every 15 minutes. Resultantly, John was feeling really sick when the day came to a close.
''It really required a lot of physical endurance as the whole setting was hardly comforting for anyone involved, including other crew members as well as director Gupta,' the crew member continues, 'Moreover it was a long day shoot as John was in action right throughout.''
Still, despite brief period of sickness, John returned the very next day to resume the shoot. ''Of course as a director it was a cinematic moment to see powerful men battling it out and beating the hell out of each other,' says Sanjay Gupta, 'It is crazy that John managed to fight it out for almost 12 hours. Hats off to his endurance here.''
Guess the endurance couldn't really sustain for a longer duration as a day later, both director as well as the actor called sick and moved the shoot ahead. However seems like John has pretty much bargained for such stress, especially after flaunting the 'Action Abraham' tag.
