The opening of Sriram Raghavan's Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer, AGENT VINOD, was more or less on the expected lines. Most multiplexes of major urban centers recorded good to decent collections. The single screens were never expected to be on the same level, and nor were they!
While Mumbai-Maharashtra and Gujarat had the multiplexes recording as high as 80-90 percent, and in some cases even 95-100 percent start (Ahmedabad), collections were quite good in Hyderabad-Nizam and Bangalore as well. In the North, the best collections of 65-75 percent came from Delhi -NCR and major centers of Uttar Pradesh. East Punjab was lower (barring Chandigarh) at around 50-60 percent. AGENT VINOD was not expected to set the single screens on fire, but it did manage fair to decent start (40-50 percent) at mid sized towns, while smaller centers saw an ordinary start of around 20-30 percent.
With the word of mouth being mixed, leaning more towards positive, due to the high number of prints in circulation, the stylish spy thriller is expected to have a bountiful weekend.
Meanwhile Vidya Balan's KAHAANI saw a rock-steady second week with minimal fall. As per early estimates the Sujoy Ghosh directed film has netted around 41-42 crore (to be validated), and is already a super hit.
