Is GHAYAL RETURNS indefinitely postponed?

Guess GHAYAL RETURNS may just be relegated to its first teaser that was released around a year ago. Though the announcement was made with quite some fanfare, the film has been on a backburner for quite some time and looks like the status would remain the same for many more months to go. Reason? Sunny Deol has already started working on his BHAIYYAJI SUPERHIT and allotted his dates to the action comedy. Moreover those close to GHAYAL RETURNS also inform that an altogether different script is being written for the sequel since creative differences have plagued the film.
''Sunny wanted the film to be developed in a certain way so that his action image is reinstated all over again. On the other hand people who were earlier working on GHAYAL RETURNS, first Tigmanshu Dhulia and then Ashwini Chaudhary had different ideas. None of them were able to converge though,'' informs a source, ''In fact the teaser even declared Ashwini as the eventual director but then even he had to opt out since he and Sunny had a different vision around the film.'' CHECK OUT: GHAYAL RETURNS won't be like other sequels
Apparently the director wanted to project an altogether different Sunny. On the other hand the actor felt that audience root for the kind of aura he comes with and hence he couldn't afford to cheat them. With the actor and the director looking at the film differently, they decided to part.
''Soon after that the new name which emerged was that of Rahul Rawail, one of the favourite directors of Sunny. However his illness resulted in GHAYAL RETURNS taking backseat for a while,'' continues the source, ''Meanwhile Sunny has moved on to his other assignments and has started work on BHAIYAAJI SUPERHIT. It is clear that his GHAYAL dream would have to wait for much longer.''
However there are some who are still rooting for the film to turn into a reality soon. Says a fellow filmmaker, ''The thing is that when a new director comes on board, he has his own vision of seeing a film. Rahul can't be expected to make the kind of film which Tigmanshu or Ashwini were planning to make. He would work on a film which suits his sensibility. He had to almost start from a scratch but he is on the task. He has given Sunny films like ARJUN, DACAIT and YODHA. He will definitely do something special for GHAYAL RETURNS as well.''
