Within 24 hours from now, JANNAT 2 would be out in open for all to see and pass their verdict. The film's release though hasn't been without its share of controversies, what with random talks around Emraan Hashmiq being favoured over Randeep Hooda. While one waits to see how much of Randeep do we eventually get to see in the film (as per insiders though he has a powerful presence and is pretty much a surprise package in the offering), curtains would soon be off the actual content of the film which has been under scrutiny too.
Reason being that the moment film's First Look was revealed, it caught the attention of netizens who promptly accessed the makers of copying a shot from Hollywood offering LORD OF WAR. Since the Nocolas Cage starrer too dealt with the theme of illegal arms trading, speculations kick-started around JANNAT 2 being a rip off of the film.
'Can you believe that,' says Kunal in an exasperated tone, 'LORD OF WAR was about international arms deals and the illegal activities surrounding it. In JANNAT 2 we have this small time youngster in Delhi driving a petty racket. I guess press just has something to write about every day. Well, good for them, let them write.'
He adds after taking a deep breath, 'I am extremely disappointed though that a judgment was made based on just one shot. In fact if you were to ask me, the shot of guns lying around on the ground is as symbolic as currency notes floating in the air in JANNAT. Both shots were just to establish the theme of the film, that's about it.'
Well, we would like to see how many such symbolic references would find their way in JANNAT 2 once it hits the screens tomorrow.
