The success of latest film VICKY DONOR has not only benefitted TV anchor-turned-actor, Ayushmann Khurrana but it has also opened doors for debutant Yami Gautam, who too has done her stint in Television industry.
Yami can't get enough of the tremendous response she is receiving from across the corners. In fact she is surprised with the overwhelming response the film is getting. Says Yami, "It's really fantastic. By saying further I don't want to sound pompous. But I am really glad that critics and audiences alike have accepted me. They have been really kind to me."
Though she always had a faith in filmmaker Shoojit Sircar's sensibilities, she didn't expect such humungous reaction from the audiences. "I always knew that VICKY DONOR, because of its subject, would be a good film. And trusting Shoojit Sircar's sensibilities I signed on the film. However, I never expected too much with this film. I never expected such huge response. But now I am more than happy for it."
However, ask her if she was apprehensive taking on the project since VICKY DONOR was out-an-out Ayushmann film and she says, "I was not at all apprehensive. On the contrary I was excited and strongly desired to be part of it. My instincts were absolutely strong about the film that it can't go wrong. As it had the ability to hold the audience with an underlying message."
Yami, who began her career with TV, is not planning to go back to the medium and wants to concentrate only on movies. "Has anybody gone back after getting on the bigger platform? It doesn't even make any sense. You only want to go higher and higher and scale new heights. Of course TV is not a small medium. Biggest of the superstars are turning to TV these days...But I want to concentrate only on movies as of now," she said on a parting note.
