Marathi celebs & media come together for Marathi Celebrity Cricket League

Leading Marathi celebrities and media professionals have now come together for a unique cricket league for a cause. The season I of the much publicised Marathi Celebrity Cricket League (MCCL) season -1 kicks off at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane on May 6 between 6 pm to 9pm.

The celebs come together to support leading NGO Apnalaya, which works for the rag-picker's families and children living around Deonar dumpsite in central Mumbai and another NGO named ADAPT. Organised by Mitai Foundation and conceptualized by Next Level Media Communications P. Ltd, MCCL will have two Marathi celebrity teams and one team of Marathi entertainment media. The final match will be played amongst the celebrity winner team and media team.


Leading celebs like Mahesh Manjrekar, Santosh Manjrekar, Santosh Juvekar, Rajesh Shringarpure, Sachit Patil, Pushkar Shrotri, Aniket Vishwasrao, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Kedar Shinde, Jaywant Wadkar, Tojo (Rahul) Gore, Dongo (Vivek) Gore, Anand Ingale, Rahul Mehendale, Angad Mhaskar, Satish Rajwade, Sunil Barve, Sangram Samel will be seen in action on the cricket pitch on May 6. There is equal excitement in the Marathi media circles about the game. The media team comprises of leading names like Amit Bhandari (Star Majha), Bhushan Karandikar (Zee 24 taas), Subodh Mayure (E TV), Mahendra More (SaamTV), Saumitra Pote and Sandeep Shinde (Maharashtra times), to name few from the electronic and print media. Each match will be played of 8 overs. A gala opening ceremony has been planned with lavani performers as cheerleaders along with dhol players at the venue.

The spirit behind MCCL season I is leading actor/producer/director Mahesh Manjrekar. 'When the proposal came to me to bring all the Marathi celebrities to play cricket for charity, I was impressed and decided back it totally. It's a fantastic opportunity for our fraternity to give back to the society by playing a cricket match. Moreover, I'm happy to know that funds are going to a good NGO like Apnalaya.'
