It's not easy when you are not from filmy background, says Simran

Remember that girl in last year's release JO HUM CHAHEIN who had made quite a few turn heads and take notice of her? Simran Kaur Mundi, ex-Miss India Universe, may not have had a rosy start to the world of Bollywood but she isn't lying low. Six months down the line, she is putting in sustained effort to get filmmakers interested in her all over again. This means that while there have been a round of meetings with good production houses with some concrete developments being made as well, Simran is keeping matters close to her heart before getting into any revelation mode.
"The good part about JO HUM CHAHEIN was that it got me into the Bollywood map at least", says Simran, "Most reviews said that here is a girl who is pretty and can act well too. Both things went in my favour and though I would have been happier had the film worked as well, I was quite happy to have taken a first step in the right direction. It is due to that film that today I am able to generate interest amongst filmmakers."
She understands though that it won't be a cakewalk for her since she is practically all by herself in the city of dreams.
"It is not easy when you are not from a filmy background. As an outsider it is difficult but thankfully people from the industry have been nice to me", Simran brings on a smile here, "There are people who are guiding and helping me out. I think at the end of the day it all boils down to your 'kismat'. I am sure though that it would favour me. I am doing everything to work on skills and overall presentation. Now destiny has to play its role."
We hope that happens soon Simran. After all, industry does need newer faces to bloom!
