Time and again one hears about celebrities finding it difficult to escape their fans when in public. However for Emraan Hashmi, despite his superstar status, it was an altogether different scenario not too long ago when he didn't find any attention whatsoever coming his way. This happened during the shoot of SHANGHAI in Latur and Baramati.
'All this while there have been stories floated around how Emraan Hashmi was mobbed by the masses while shooting for SHANGHAI. Why just this film even JANNAT 2 was supposed to have found the actor in a similar situation when he was shooting for it up North in Delhi and Gurgaon. It is understandable since especially after THE DIRTY PICTURE and MURDER 2 his stocks are indeed high and he has expanded his fan base. However no one ever told how there were even situations when he sat out there in a corner and no one even bothered to reach out to him, leave aside mobbing him', informs a source.
Well, this was nothing to do with Emraan as a person but instead the character which he is playing in SHANGHAI. Since he has an altogether different look and getup in the film, what with a paunch, blackened teeth and an overall shabby persona, he seemed like a commoner on the location instead of a star. No wonder, he went entirely unnoticed and even as the crowd was rooting for him to come out of his vanity van, Emraan was amused since he was quietly sitting in a corner not too far away and preparing for his scene.
For director Dibakar Banerjee, it was nothing but a blessing in disguise. He smiles, 'In fact at times it became difficult for even crew members to trace and distinguish him inside the crowd. Thanks to Emraan's unique and identity defying get up, we never had crowd trouble. '
