Though their music is remarkably different from the kind that R D Burman made in his lifetime, the legendary composer has stayed on to be a source of inspiration for Sajid-Wajid when it comes to bringing on variety. This is apparent in the way they are exploring different ends of spectrum with distinctive music in films like ROWDY RATHORE and TERI MERI KAHAANI.
"Just look at the kind of range that Panchamda carried, he could compose just about everything", Wajid perks up here, "He has given different kind of songs, whether massy, classy or totally filmy. We also strive for that while keeping in mind the commercial aspects of things. After all, we have to compose music for all strata of society. Also, whatever we make has to be as per the project instead of our own wish-list. One should remember to make clothes that fit the body of the customer."
In such 'gyaan ki baatein', a lesson that has been etched into the memory of Sajid-Wajid is the one shared by Salman himself.
"In real life, even 'bhai' isn't someone who wants to be a superhero. He believes that har aam aadmi mein ek superhero hai. That's what we too have been trying by keeping things simple", Sajid and Wajid say in unison, "Inshallah we are in a position where we are quite sorted where we can pick and choose. We thank God and our listeners who have believed in us."
Now here is hoping that listeners too can say the same once the music of TERI MERI KAHAANI is unveiled.
