While there are many newcomers who are considered to be a surprise package when their films are released, in case of Arjun Kapoor and his ISHAQZAADE, everyone wanted him to perform due to the Kapoor name involved. Though he has managed to exceed those expectations today, during the making of ISHAQZAADE didn't he ever feel unnerved when he was being scrutinised all the time?
"Honestly, I am very practical when it comes to such things. Gaye woh din jab log sochte they ki fata poster, nikla hero. Just because you are a producer's son doesn't mean that you would have an easy ride. I still maintain that these expectations come down to nothing when you don't deliver," says Arjun in a mature tone, "Yes, amongst the fraternity there were expectations but then there was an emotional reason behind that as well since they feel ki chalo apna ladka hai, ise support karna chahiye. Audience doesn't think like that. They are very sensible and intelligent and it doesn't matter to them ki aap kiske bete hain."
Being practical in his approach towards his personal as well as professional life, he has quite a few examples to narrate where even star-kids couldn't sustain beyond the initial hype while complete outsiders ended up making it big.
"Yes, there have been people from within the industry who entered films but were not up to the mark and then there are others who have astonished one and all despite no filmy connections. If at all there is euphoria around a youngster coming from a filmy background, it lasts only till Friday evening because after that it is the film that starts doing the talking. I am well aware of that and hence was never bogged down when I was shooting for ISHAQZAADE. I knew that I had to work on ensuring Parma's character came across well on screen. Any other theoretical talks and speculations never bothered me," he says.
Well, here is looking forward to seeing more of you Arjun!
