Whistling Woods to host 3-day film fest to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema

Staying true to their commitment to cinema and the entertainment industry, Students & Alumni of the Whistling Woods International will host a 3-day film festival to earmark the centenary celebrations of Indian Cinema from June 1-3, 2012 at its sprawling Film City Campus. Titled as 'CINEMA 100', this mega student and alumni driven initiative will showcase a blend of Film Screening - classic films, curated films, documentaries, thematic compilations & more, Knowledge Sharing & Learning, Exhibition of film posters & rare cinema artifacts, along with entertainment. Industry stalwarts, celebrities and legends will share knowledge on Panel Discussions, Seminars & Workshops. This free for all event will thus enlighten film enthusiasts, students and young film-makers...


Subhash Ghai, Founder Chairman, Whistling Woods International beamed with pride saying ''Whistling Woods has always promoted quality film education and we have been thought leaders in providing the latest knowledge and infrastructure to our students. Cinema 100 is our tribute to the fascinating 100 year journey of Indian Cinema. Industry stalwarts and legends have agreed to share their knowledge and experiences to make this experience even richer.''

Celebrities who will grace the occasion or conduct workshops or panel discussions during the span of the three-day festival are A R Rahman, Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Rakeysh Mehra, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Habib Faisal, Rohit Shetty, R. Balki, Saroj Khan, Rohit Shetty, Parineeti ChopraArjun Kapoor, Javed Siddiqui, Gulzaar, Zoya Akhtar, Nagesh Kukunoor, Jackie Shroff, Hema Malini, Khalid Mohammed and many others.

Meghna Ghai Puri, President of Whistling Woods International said, ''It is heartening that our well-established alumni, committed students and experienced faculty initiated the idea of Cinema 100. Whistling Woods has established itself as an Industry school over the last 6 years and this is our tribute to the Industry at large  from the filmmakers to the spot boys. All those who have contributed to the world of Cinema for the last 100 years. Cinema 100 will not only showcase rare films but also will be a tool to educate the youth about the rich heritage in Cinema and the future that is to come. I am grateful to our fantastic Faculty, Alumni & Industry experts for agreeing to give us their time on these three days to hold workshops with students from all over India.''
