Working with an iconic filmmaker like Yash Chopra or even being tagged as Yash Chopra's actor once in a lifetime has been every actor/star's earnest dream & desire and Bollywood actresses Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma are no exception.
Recently, while addressing the media at upcoming release JAB TAK HAI JAAN press meet, when asked about her experience & fond memories for the filmmaker, Katrina Kaif shared that how badly she yearned and prayed to be a Yash Chopra heroine ever since she watched his VEER ZAARA.
Katrina said, "It's a very common statement by every actor that it's their dream to work with Yashji once in a lifetime. But for me it was a very strong memory. I remember going to the premiere of VEER ZAARA and watching it & desperately wanting to be part of it. I immediately turned to my friend, sitting next to me, and said 'I just want to be part of a film like this'. And it was my dream. So whenever Adi (Aditya Chopra) used to call or message me to come to office I would go to Mt. Merry Church praying "Let him be calling me for Yashji's film". And every time Adi would call me for some minor work or something not really important and I used to return home teary-eyed. For me it was more than a dream to come true. It was an unlikely dream to come true. Many people thought it would not be possible. But working with Yashji was more than just an experience."
Reminiscing an incident on the sets, Katrina gets nostalgic over it and shares us about the perceptive side of Yash Chopra, "There was an incident on the sets. Me and Shahrukh were filming a scene and I was not getting the shot right. Then Shahrukh came to me asking "You wanna rehearse", Adi too asked me to take a break. Everyone was there to help me. But I remember Yashji just came up and started cracking jokes. We were running out of time and everyone was stressed out and there was Yashji standing & cracking jokes, completely distracting everyone. He had that sense of realization that all I needed was a bit of space... that was just Yashji for me. He was so perceptive."
While, Anushka Sharma, yet another leading of JAB TAK HAI JAAN, who was also present at the do, got emotional and confided that how Yashji touched her life. "My father doesn't watch too many films. One day, I spotted him watching TV and crying and I was shocked as he is an army man. I didn't speak to him that time but afterward, he told me he was watching VEER ZARA. It was special moment I thank Yashji. That kind of touched me," she said.
Further praising Yashji, Anushka, said, "Yashji had a childlike enthusiasm and humility despite having achieved so much in life. Everyone loved him on the sets, as he was so approachable. It was really special and surreal working for him."
Indeed Yashji's trailblazer work touched many a lives!
