Will JAB TAK HAI JAAN to be Katrina's best performance ever?
November 5, 2012 07:19:12 PM IST By Enkayaar, Glamsham Editorial
For an actress to be a part of the Yash Raj Films banner, and be directed by Yash Chopra during the last decade when he became the face of romance was the ultimate high in their careers, a sign that they had arrived. Katrina Kaif, when she appeared in the KBC episode along with Shahrukh Khan for promotion of JAB TAK HAI JAAN pointed the same in no uncertain terms, how, though she had become a part of YRF banner through NEWYORK, was waiting for the call to be directed by the legend.
There is a sense of anticipation in Katrina Kaif, a sense that things would just turn around the corner and her swan song is within the grasp. The sense of hunger was evident when a scene from JTHJ was being enacted. Shahrukh Khan informed Big B that he had done it in some different manner and Katrina asked him to enact it in a different way, and Big B from the hallowed portals of his show informed the audience that interpretation of Katrina Kaif about the scene was indeed much better. It happened in two three other instances as well during the course of the programme.
For the actresses of the present times it is a tad difficult to have a film of the likes of MOTHER INDIA in their repertoire which they can claim as the acme of their performance in their career, and so there is an urge or unwilling gravitation to appear in the item number songs to make a mark, perhaps.
Katrina Kaif has already made her mark as being one of the hottest ladies around, who set the screen on fire with Chikni Chameli, but to be a part of a recitation seeped in romance, as the actresses of the previous era have been, she could get that opportunity only in JTHJ. The lines- Tere Aankhon kee narm mastiyaan,, which incidentally Big B recited to her and asked SRK to translate it to Katrina Kaif and then corrected SRK wherever Big B found that the translation was not apt, would be a career high for Katrina Kaif.
Katrina Kaif would not have got such an opportunity of basking in the glory of attention of two of the biggest stars arguably of the world of Hindi cinema and one only wishes that her yearn to have a picture in her repertoire that she would always relish could fructify with JAB TAK HAI JAAN.
