Vikram happy for 1920: EVIL RETURNS & RAAZ 3 success
November 16, 2012 01:13:04 PM IST By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial
Vikram Bhatt is reluctant about being vocal as far as the talk about the journey that he and his company have taken over the years is concerned. His 1920 - EVIL RETURNS has ended it's run after being a solid hit theatrically (and then getting hit due to arrival of Diwali releases in theatres). Moreover, the film that he did with Bhatt brothers, RAAZ 3, has proven to be a blockbuster as well if collections from India and abroad as well as moolah coming from satellite, music and home video rights are taken into consideration.
''With the total revenue in the range of 102 crores coming in with an investment of just around 20 crores, the Emraan Hashmi-Bipasha Basu-Esha Gupta starrer has been one of the hugest money spinners of 2012. Similarly 1920 - EVIL RETURNS too would be crossing the 40 crores mark after taking into consideration all the rights, hence proving to be a super hit overall since it has been made at an investment of just 9 crores,'' informs an insider.
In such a scenario, doesn't Vikram feel that he is now entitled to make a lot more noise about the films than he is currently making?
''The very fact that you as trade are aware about its success is a good enough reason to rejoice,'' says Vikram, ''See, soon after RAAZ 3 turned out to be a super-success, there was a spate of good cinema that came in. There was EK THA TIGER, BARFI!, HEROINE, ENGLISH VINGLISH, OMG! etc. Similarly even at the time when 1920 - EVIL RETURNS was doing so well, there was this whole talk about the Diwali releases due to which the media was abuzz with related information. In such a scenario, you don't get to behave like you are the only successful filmmaker out there. Everyone is enjoying their success and deservingly so.''
