"Ajay Devgn has never been a part of any controversy in his rather long career spread over two decades. From PHOOL AUR KAANTE till SON OF SARDAAR, not just has he graduated from making an entry on two bikes to two horses instead; he has also managed to accumulate a vast repertoire of 100 odd films. For his debut film he had none less than LAMHE for competition which had Yash Chopra at the helm of affairs. The history repeated itself with JAB TAK HAI JAAN turning out to be a major competition for his SON OF SARDAAR. Still we can see which film has seen a better overall response,'' says a source close to Ajay.
From the response perspective, indications were pretty much clear over four months back itself when the first theatrical promo of SOS was unveiled. Those in the know-how of business couldn't help but exclaim that the film had hit the right notes on its very first arrival.
"The biggest thing that you must know as a producer is that all promotions are important but if your first impression is not good then everything else is useless,'' says Ajay in a matter of fact tone, "We got good reactions with our first theatrical, our music worked well too and we found ourselves on the right track there and then. The First Look did the trick for us and the film did the rest. So here we are."
