The phenomenon called Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 70th birthday with much elan. Almost entire film industry galore to ring in megastar's big day. The whole nation joined in the celebration. However Big B, as he is fondly referred, finds it silly to take his birthday as a National thing.

Says Mr. Bachchan, ''I never took my birthday or myself as a National thing. I never considered about my popularity. It will be very silly on my part if I think so. My birthday is as normal like a comman man's birthday. I don't feel special about it.''

Recalling his childhood days, Big B says like any other child even he used to be curious about gifts on birthdays but now he feels it as just another day. ''Like any other child, even I used to be curious to know about the gifts on my birthday. But now with each passing birthday it feels just another day.''

The legendary is quite a family person at heart. For him materialistic gifts don't matter. What matters for him is the love and respect of his fans, his audience and his family.

''I never look for materialistic gift. For me my audiences', my fans' love and affection, my parents' blessings have been always a special gift. I have always considered myself lucky in that aspect. My son Abhishek and daughter Shweta have been the best gift of my life. And now my granddaughter Aaradhya, grandson Agastya, Navya, Naveli are my biggest gifts,'' he says.

Ask Big B about his best birthday gift this year and he says, ''Aaradhya is the best birthday gift. With the arrival of Aaradhya the family looks complete now.''

Big B finds his journey in films as satisfactory and enjoying one. He considers himself to be fortunate enough to work with best of the lot of the industry

''It has been one happy, satisfying journey. I have got the opportunity to work with best of the lot of the industry right from Khwaja Ahmed Abbas to Manmohan Desai to Hrishikesh Mukerji, with whom I have done maximum number of films, to Prakash Mehra, Ramesh Sippy to Yash Chopra. They have contributed a lot to my career.''

''Then came an era of Mukul Anand, Tinnu Anand, Salim-Javed with whom I formed a good association. Another era saw filmmakers like Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra, who were again a stepping stone in my career. And now with filmmakers like R. Balki, Prakash Jha, a new wave of cinema is being experienced. I am thankful to all of them,'' he added on a concluding note.
