Priyanka Chopra's single IN MY CITY launched in Mumbai before its NFLN debut

The 'ultimate desi girl' kept her promise. Priyanka Chopra, top-line Bollywood star and former Miss World launched her 'single' song album IN MY CITY in Mumbai at a suburban five-star hotel 6 hours before its grand global debut on a 'videshi' channel National Football League Network (NFLN) as the theme music of its pregame show.

This is a huge leap for a Bollywood film star, a first of its kind, to seriously try to make her mark as an International pop star and singing diva. For now she has released a single with English lyrics and her voice sounds crispy and lively and very 'phoren' with no traces of 'desiness'. However, the track has interludes with mild touches of 'desi' sounds in its instrumentation. According to Priyanka it was her suggestion since she is proud of her roots and will forever be a 'desi girl'. The complete album will come out in early 2013 and it may have a song with 'desi' lyrics.
While talking to the media she said it was a long two-year journey that started with Salim-Suleiman recommending her to Devraj Sanyal of Universal Music, India /SAARC, who brought Anjula Acharia-Bath of DesiHits on board. She put together a team of A-list music producers like Jimmy Iovine of Interscope, Red One of 2101, and the talent manger Troy Carter of Atom Factory that manages pop-culture icons like Lady Gaga. Priyanka did a lot of 'riyaaz' and voice training taking time out of her busy shooting schedule and went through the demanding process of creating a world-class album that would introduce an Indian singing talent to the rest of the world in a way never done before. She thanked her parents, friends, producers, well-wishers, and the media for their continuing support.
Priced at Rs.75/- the 'single' will be available on every distribution platform and retail outlet. Nokia India will provide exclusive download of IN MY CITY to its consumers on its online store. The song will also be part of the upcoming Blender's Pride Fashion Tour.
