Ranbir Kapoor starrer BARFI! has done well in its opening weekend and has almost matched RAAZ 3's performance. It has collected almost 32 crores net and has seen a steep rise in its box-office collection curve starting from Friday until Sunday. The film collected about 8.5 crores on Friday. Its collections rose up to 11 crores on Saturday and then improved further on Sunday with 12.5 crores. The evening and night shows in the multiplexes in Metros and A class cities ran houseful.
We have to see if the film keeps this momentum going and improves on the first week performance of the low budget RAAZ 3. The film must return much better figures than RAAZ 3 to break even and it should have done better looking at its A list star cast, director, banner, and budget. The film has received positive reviews from the media in general. The tag of being a 'multiplex film' has limited its appeal though. That probably was the reason the distributors ignored single screen theatres in their planning. It will also be facing stiff competition from another UTV release HEROINE coming weekend.
