Though filmmaker Yash Chopra has directed actor Shahrukh Khan in four films namely DARR, DL TOH PAGAL HAI, VEER-ZAARA and latest being JAB TAK HAI JAAN and though Shahrukh is associated with the YRF banner from the time he started his career (around 20 years) by doing various films, Shahrukh recently in a conversation with Yash Chopra on his 80th birthday revealed that his connection with the coveted banner and Yash Chopra is way beyond. As per Shahrukh his kismet connection with Yashji started when he was mere 9-years old and from then on it continued till the time he landed a role in Yash Chopra's film.
Shahrukh revealed that the first film that he ever watched in the theatres was Yash Chopra's JOSHILA at Vivek Cinema Hall, Patel Nagar in Delhi when he was 9-years old. Apparently, Shahrukh's mother promised him a movie if he scored well in the subject of Hindi and when Shahrukh came out with flying colours his mother took him for the film JOSHILA, which had just released then.
The second instance which involves his (now) wife Gauri is also quite amazing. Now, call it a coincidence but when Yashji was shooting for his film SILSILA starring Amitabh Bachchan- Jaya Bachchan and Rekha in the periphery of Delhi, a 14-15 years old Shahrukh with his family was there to watch the shooting. And to his surprise even Gauri, whom he didn't even know then, along with her entire family was also present on the sets. However, Shahrukh came to know about this fact much later when his mother-in-law (Gauri's mother) told him.
Lastly, when Shahrukh was watching Yashji's one of the cult classic films, LAMHE he got a call from YRF saying that he is being considered for a film. Shahrukh left the film halfway and immediately rushed to the production house.
Well, you never know when and where the kismet connection happens!
