Ranbir Kapoor is finally living life and chilling. During last few years, he may have given quite a few box-office successes as well as gained critical acclaim. However, when it comes to letting his hair down for a film, the last one saw him doing that was four years ago in AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI. Circa 2013 and he is finally hitting the floor with a vengeance once again in YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI.
'The role requires him to put on his dancing shoes and enjoy like there was no tomorrow,'' says a close associate, 'This is the reason why you see him dancing away to glory in 'Badtameez Dil'. Bringing back the memories of his grand uncle Shammi Kapoor, Ranbir can be seen enjoying away to the glory.'
Something that the films that he did during last few years didn't quite allow. Both BARFI! as well as ROCKSTAR had sad undertones to them and didn't allow Ranbir to just be himself. He did excel in these tough roles, though he couldn't quite be the youngster he is. Ditto in RAAJNEETI which was quite serious. The character that he played in ANJAANA ANJAANI had suicidal tendencies whereas ROCKET SINGH - SALESMAN OF THE YEAR was a niche film. None of these films allowed him to be a regular youngster who wanted to have fun sans any inhibitions.
'Ayan Mukerji has allowed him to do that though with YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI,'' a source adds, 'In fact he was one of the first filmmakers to portray Ranbir as pretty non-hero like in WAKE UP SID which went on to further establish his credentials as an actor. However now for his second film, he has added many more commercial ingredients which gives Ranbir a much more flexible and cinematic pleasing platform in order to cater to a wider audience.'
While one waits to see the kind of distance that his 'badtameez dil' carries, it is quite apparent that Ranbir is not putting any breaks. After all, it is BESHARAM that follows his 'Badtameez Dil'!
