Vidyut Jamwal has all the right reasons to be elated. His COMMANDO has worked at the box office, especially at the mass centres, and the heavy duty action film has managed to work well with the target audience. In the process, a new action hero has been born, something that was pretty much on the cards ever since the promos of this Vipul Shah production went on floors.
'I had to live up to these huge expectations though,' says Vidyut who is obviously on a high, now that his film has made close to 15 crores at the box office, 'Honestly, it was all hard work that has brought me here. The compliment which I am getting is that the action scene standard has now risen further. Now that COMMANDO is doing well commercially as well, I know that my next film has to be even better. As far as action is concerned, I am my own competition now.'
For Vidyut, it has been one long journey though. In Mumbai for close to a decade, he got his break as a villain with FORCE before being roped in by Vipul Shah as the central protagonist in COMMANDO. What worked in his favour was the fact that he was clear about the niche he wanted to build in the industry.
'When a guy comes and does Kung Fu or Karate, there are comparison points for him. If a dancing hero comes then he would be compared with Hrithik Roshan. The advantage that I come with is that the action which I do is pretty much unique to me. Well, for now at least,' says Vidyut.
