When AASHIQUI had released over two decades ago, it also brought to fore two youngsters, Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal. Though none of the two were hailed for their acting chops, the fact that Mahesh Bhatt had still managed to extract the right emotions for screens.
'See, there is no denying that compared to these guys (Aditya, Shraddha), Rahul and Anu were rank newcomers. Still, they fitted the film's narrative then. Also, they gave their hearts to the job that was assigned to them. Today we are in the 21st century India where acting skills of the current generation are heads and shoulders above the kind that were evidenced in the 90s,' says Mahesh Bhatt, who is backing AASHIQUI 2 now.
The filmmaker admits that for the second installment in the franchise, there was quite some work done in the background to ensure that the results were instantly eye catchy.
'Mohit (Suri) did a lot of work in the background. He was put through the fire for AASHIQUI 2,' adds Bhatt, 'Never in the history of a Hindi films has a month and a half long workshop being conducted before kick-start of principal photography. We also had an expert from NSD who was there right through to coach actors under one roof. We managed to create a momentum that injected the kind of chemistry between Aditya and Shraddha which was required for the film. So if you see them coming across as much more confident and trained, there is a reason behind that since they were adequately prepared before they faced the camera.'
Now one waits to see the overall results as well once the film hits the screens next Friday.
