Deepika Padukone is now officially the 500 crore heroine. With her CHENNAI EXPRESS crossing the 200 crore mark, YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI coming close to the double century and RACE 2 hitting a century as well, the lady is now the first in the history of India cinema, amongst male as well as female actors, to have achieved this remarkable feat in a single calendar year while still counting.
While congratulatory messages are coming her way for being the only lead to have achieved such numbers, there have also been appreciations galore w.r.t. her standing as an actor. While the turnaround happened since the days of COCKTAIL, the zenith has been reached with CHENNAI EXPRESS. With a diametrically opposite part that she played in the Rohit Shetty directed affair when compared to her performance in COCKTAIL, one waits to see what she has in offering next.
"Well, wait for RAM LEELA in that case," says our source who has seen what Deepika has shot for the film so far, "She is just exemplary in the film. If some out there have been wondering how she has coped up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's style of filmmaking, you have to see what she has done in the film. It is a part which is a mix of fun and intensity. For those who have followed what Bhansali's leading ladies have done in the past, be it Manisha Koirala in KHAMOSHI, Aishwarya Rai in DEVDAS and HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM or Rani Mukerji in BLACK, Deepika is going to throw a huge surprise."
While Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sunil Lulla, makers of RAM LEELA, are currently tight lipped about what their film has to offer, one waits to see Deepika's performance and chemistry with Ranveer Singh once the film releases all over on 15th November 2013.
