The first look of GUNDAY has managed to exceed expectations, as far as creating a major impression on its very arrival is concerned. With the film pretty much reminding of the Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra world of the 70s, what with the two hero set up hinting of cinema of yore, one man who is finding himself in an interesting zone is Irrfan Khan.
"The film is set in Calcutta of the era gone by and Irrfan is playing a Bengali in the film. While Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor are stepping into the title role of GUNDAY, Irrfan's character is a 'gunda' for them," informs a source.
Irrfan, who has been in the world of acting for over two decade now, is all praise for the fresh talent that the youngsters have turned out to be in this Aditya Chopra production.
"Ranveer and Arjun are really hard working boys. I have seen them quite closely and I find their approach towards acting really fresh," says Irrfan who has delivered three back to back critically acclaimed performances in THE LUNCHBOX, D-DAY and LIFE OF PIE in the months gone by.
Incidentally, the last time he was seen in a Yash Raj outing, he had two other youngsters for company. The film was NEW YORK (2009) where he played a pivotal part in a film that had John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh as the antagonist and protagonist respectively. While Irrfan has firmly made his presence felt out there, one can be rest assured that it won't be any different with Ranveer and Arjun in GUNDAY.
