Madhuri Dixit: Today heroines need to make noise
December 19, 2013 03:08:22 PM IST By Rachana Sheth, Glamsham Editorial
Bollywood's Dhak Dhak girl Madhuri Dixit is making her comeback rather set for her second innings in Bollywood with DEDH ISHQIYA at a time when the competition is stiff. She is making her presence when everyone else is vying for attention or grabbing headlines.
Under such scenario, ask Mads, as she is fondly referred, if competition bothers her and she says, ''It's a very creative field. Nobody is a contender here. It's not like we are horses and running into a race and who reaches first. It's like how you better yourself every time. It's like how well or cleverly you play your character. It is basically all about talent that you have to nurture and take it forward. You cannot be competing with someone.''
Having said that, Madhuri also doesn't deny the point that today it's more about publicizing your film than just being a talented actor.
''When we used to work we never went out of our way to promote a movie. There used to be hardly 4-5 interviews. We were hardly seen doing promotions. There were not many channels or media like today. Just one or two event and the news about it would be there everywhere. However, times have changed. Now, you have to go all out and blow your own trumpet saying that this is our film or this is our product please come and watch because there's so much happening around at the same time which causes lot of distraction for audiences. So, you are left with no other option than to make lot of noise...marketing has become a big thing and heroines, today, have to do that. There's more hard work than it was at that time. Earlier there used to be hard work only in physical terms,'' says Madhuri.
Also starring Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi, DEDH ISHQIYA, directed by Abhishek Chaubey, produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and Shemaroo Entertainment, is all set to hit the screens on January 10, 2014
