2013 has pretty much turned out to be an edgy year for Saif Ali Khan, as far as his Bollywood sojourn is concerned. However come 2014 and he would return to the familiar space with his first rom-com to hit the screens since his last big solo success, COCKTAIL, which was again a rom-com.
The film in question is HAPPY ENDING which would bring him back in the romantic comedy zone. The film is said to be carrying all the typical elements that are usually associated with a quintessential rom-com starring Saif Ali Khan.
While COCKTAIL was a good hit last year, Saif changed gears for his on-screen appearances this year. So while 2013 did start with a 100 crore hit in the form of RACE 2, a thriller, Saif was next seen in GO GOA GONE, a zombie comedy with an edgy treatment to it. Then a few weeks back, he was seen in a rustic-n-earthy avatar in a world created by Tigmanshu Dhulia for BULLETT RAJA.
"It is not a fluffy film by any means," says Raj, one half of the director duo Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, "When Saif comes on screen, the excitement level goes to a different level altogether. He is a very powerful personality and that shows on screen."
Produced by Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan, HAPPY ENDING also stars Govinda, Preity Zinta and Ranvir Shorey with Kareena Kapoor in a special appearance. The film is tentatively planned for 28th March release.
