Coming to the numbers, after netting, an unbelievable 31.50 crore on the opening day, which incidentally was a working day (rightly referred to by the makers as DHOOM day), DHOOM 3 maintained beautifully on Saturday netting another 29.50 crore. The Sunday was even bigger than the first two days as the film notched up another 38 crore, thereby netting an astounding 100 crore in 3 days flat, and thus becoming Bollywood's fastest centurion, beating SRK's CHENNAI EXPRESS. The returns from the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions come as an extra bonus (around 8-10 crore) and have not been incorporated here, just like in the case of CHENNAI EXPRESS and KRRISH 3.
We must add here that the exact total (especially those from the interiors) will be validated when the numbers are published in reliable trade journals.
The film has also seen some extra ordinary numbers in the overseas, grossing nearly 24 crore ($3.9m) on the opening day itself, another record. As far as the 3-day run is concerned, DHOOM 3 has grossed an unbelievable 65 crore (to be validated) from the overseas, with an unthinkable 22 crore ($3.5m) during its opening weekend (20-22 December) from the US, which is as good as the end run total of many of the biggies!
All said and done, as we had predicted a few days back, Aamir, Katrina, Christmas and brand DHOOM has ensured that DHOOM 3 is all set to be a blockbuster hit, if not an all-time blockbuster.
