Amaan Khan: MAHABHARAT is not only meant for kids
December 26, 2013 03:58:06 PM IST By Urvi Parikh, Glamsham Editorial
Director Amaan Khan is gearing up for the release of his 3D animation film MAHABHARAT this week, which has a heavy star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Sunny Deol, Vidya Balan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Shatrughan Sinha and Manoj Bajpayee lending their voices for the iconic characters of this mythological epic.
Ask him how difficult it was to get such a huge star cast on board, and he says, ''We decided to create a 2D film first. My producer took this 2D version and showed it to the stalwarts, which they liked it. Once they liked it they agreed to dub for the film and then we started working on the version which you will get to see in the theatres.''
So how was it working with them? ''I am eternally grateful for such legends to have lent their names to get associated with the humble efforts of ours. That is all I can say about them,'' retorts Amaan.
Though MAHABHARAT is the first 3D animation film directed by Amaan, he is not new to this genre. Amaan has directed the 2006 animated film KRISHNA. Ask him about his expectations from this film to which he replies, ''I hope the film is appreciated and liked by the audience. Animation as such doesn't have market in India, but hopefully we will make a start with this film.''
Talking about the business, he says, ''Today, everybody measures success by the number. But for the animation films to enter 100 or 200 crore club, the perception and mindset that they are meant only for kids needs to be changed.''
Produced by Jayantilal Gada, MAHABHARAT is all set to release on December 27, 2013.
