Veteran Bollywood actor Farooq Sheikh's sudden demise has certainly sent a shock wave in the industry. LISTEN...AMAYA, a film, of which he was a part and which brought him & Deepti Naval together, team is equally taken aback with the news.
Director Avinash Kumar Singh said: ''It's utterly shocking to know that Farooqji is no more between us. At first, I couldn't believe my ears. When I got a call at 5 in the morning, I was like what! Is it even true? I rechecked it. Then Sana, Farooq's daughter, called me up. Geeta, my wife, who was sitting beside, broke into tears...As we (Geeta & I) shared a great bond with him. It was like a family even when we were shooting for LISTEN...AMAYA and never realized when the film got over. He was gem of a person, a real foodie and high on life. The biggest quality about him was that he never had regrets of any sort in life; he was so upbeat about life. Whenever Geeta & I went to his place, he would play a perfect host, we used to have numerous discussions.''
Co-star Swara Bhaskar said: ''I woke this morning to the saddest news, the demise of the gracious, charming, iconic and much loved Farooq Sheikh. Gentleman and gem-of-a-person. Farooq was an actor par-excellence and a lesson to watch. Having been blessed to have worked with him in LISTEN AMAYA, I discovered happily that this self-effacing and dignified legend of his time was also a gifted storyteller. Shooting with him became a treat of stories, food, wit and scintillating conversation. Remembering and cherishing every single moment that I was privileged to spend with this legend. Too soon Farooq sir, we will miss you and feel your loss always!''
