Last week saw the release of the Abbas-Mustan directed, RACE 2, and by and large the film embarked on a superb start setting the box-office on fire. After a big first day, in the range of 15 crore (approx), RACE 2 picked up further on Republic day, and finally ended the weekend netting in excess of 47 crore (to be validated) from India, both new records for Saif Ali Khan. The film is likely to end the first week netting (and surpassing RACE!) in excess of 65 crore from India, and is all set to be the first major success of 2013. The Anil, Saif, John, Deepika and Jaqueline starrer has also seen an impressive run in the overseas, grossing £356,250 from UK and $970,000 from the US during the opening weekend (25-27 January).

The two other releases of the week, MAIN KRISHNA HOON (animated) and AKAASH VANI could not match up to the RACE 2 onslaught and have failed.
