Not many know but Vivek was a crazy fan of Aamir's film RANGEELA and his colourful tapori character 'Munna'. He, in fact, watched the film countless times.
''When I was in school I saw RANGEELA many times. I was crazy about that film. I loved Aamir Khan's character 'Munna' in RANGEELA. So it kind of has shades of that but at the end of the day he is a bhai. Aamir Khan's character was more a tapori, a ticket-blacker, whereas my character is a proper bhai. He is a professional. He's got his own jargon and lingo and his own way of looking things in life,'' says Vivek.
So ask Vivek if he got his nuances right by taking inspiration from Aamir's 'Rangeela' character and he says, ''I was influenced by Aamir's character for sure but I didn't copy it. I didn't pick it up and do it in similar manner. For me it was like taking COMPANY, SAATHIYA and putting it together to make Jayantabhai. RANGEELA was a very larger than life kind of story, whereas Jayantabhai is honest & simple real love story.''
He may have portrayed intense & dark bhai characters in his earlier films but his character in JAYANTABHAI is in light-hearted vein. Vivek plays a bhai with golden heart in JAYANTABHAI. And it quite came naturally to him.
''It came naturally to me because it was so well written and well executed by director Vinnil Markan. And Neha was super fun to work with. Somewhere all that helped and became easy,'' says Vivek.
Also starring Neha Sharma, JJAYANTABHAI KI LUV STORY, which is produced by Kumar Taurani under Tips Music Films, is set to release on 15th February 2013.
