SPECIAL 26 and ABCD - ANY BODY CAN DANCE
Though initially it appeared that Neeraj Pandey's Akshay Kumar starrer, SPECIAL 26, would lose out to Remo D'Souza's 3D dance extravaganza (featuring Prabhudheva), ABCD - ANY BODY CAN DANCE, but in the end count that did not quite happen. While SPECIAL 26 picked up appreciably during the latter half of the first day itself, and saw a good growth on Saturday and Sunday netting around 25 crore during the opening weekend. On the other hand ABCD - ANY BODY CAN DANCE, which had embarked on a good to superb start saw a noticeable fall as the day progressed. But the film showed a turnaround on the next two days, thus netting a creditable 17 crore during the weekend. As things stand, both SPECIAL 26 (Selling cost 34-35 crore) and ABCD - ANY BODY CAN DANCE (Selling cost 25-26 crore) are set to succeed, given the fact that the two films have quite reasonable associated costs. The rather unusual Akshay, Paresh, Manoj and Kajal starrer has not fared well in the overseas (much better in US) grossing £107,500 from UK and $ 462,300 from the US during the opening weekend (8-10 February).
