When he had appeared as the villain in FORCE then he showed the potential of being a star material, though he was pitted against John Abraham, and with his second film COMMANDO he seems to be realizing the position in a big way. COMMANDO is being produced by Reliance Entertainment Company which is making buzz all over on account of jaw-dropping stunts performed by Vidyut Jamwal. It is for the first time in the history of Indian cinema that an actor has performed dare-devil stunts without using cables and wires, but for the single stunt where he jumps from a cliff.
It was Nana Patekar with his PRAHAAR who had underlined for the first time the on-screen processes associated with making of a COMMANDO, but what differentiates Vidyut Jamwal's COMMANDO perhaps is in the fact that it is an out and out action film, and here an actor who earlier played the role of a villain has been drafted to enact the role of a hero.
COMMANDO is also a manifestation of coming of age of Hindi cinema where the distinctions between a hero and a villain have blurred, and it is the content that is the guiding force for selecting an actor to enact the role. Vidyut Jamwal is indeed blessed that he gets to act in two films in succession where Vipul Shah has been his producer, first FORCE and now COMMANDO. The actions as evident from the promos are characterized by sharp cuts, reminiscent of a professional associated with advertising, and indeed, COMMANDO has been directed by Dilip Ghosh.
The real success for COMMANDO would lay in the fact that after the release of the film the walls of the hostels all across the countryside, which to this day are seen adorned with posters of RAMBO and COMMANDO could be replaced by Indian COMMANDO. Well, the portents are ominous as the trailer is making waves, and one only hopes that when it hits the cinema halls in March 2013, it would really create a buzz around the country side.
