Promo of SAHEB, BIWI AUR GANGSTER RETURNS has thrown an expectedly good response and managed to excite audience. Moreover, what works in favour of the film is that it is a story waiting to be told, unlike so many other sequels or franchise films that are made just to extend a winning run. In that context, one can expect the 'biwi' in this deadly game, Mahie Gill, to have jumped with joy when told by director Tigmanshu Dhulia that she would be returning with the sequel.
"Yes, exactly. And today I am so happy because for all practical purposes, SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER RETURNS is the 'baap' of SAHEB, BIWI AUR GANGSTER. It goes several notches higher as the kind of conflicts and 'dramebaazi' is involved. You would see a much deadlier and sinister game being played this time around,'' promises Mahie.
The film is arriving a year and a half after the Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda starrer, though a mild box office success, had managed to gain a cult status over home video circuits. While the film is remembered till date, Mahie says that it was a part of the design to keep the film's story flowing.
'We had initially decided that if the first part works well, we will definitely make the second part. Isiliye humne woh ek germ chor diya tha end mein,'' says Mahie, 'Having said that, the second part is a story in its own too. Even if people haven't seen the first part, they would still understand what's happening in the second part. Of course if you know the characterisation then it helps.'
The extension continues as Mahie reveals that the germ for the third part has been left as well at the film's end.
