The BAFTA Rising Star award as the name suggests has a knack for identifying the big names of tomorrow and it is the only award at the BAFTAs to be voted for by the public. It nurtures and recognizes new talent.
Well, now the actor is nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star award this year which is held annually in Britain. He is the only male actor nominated alongside British actresses Juno Temple, Andrea Riseborough, Elizabeth Olsen and Alicia Vikander in the running for the award recognizing new talent in the film industry.
Suraj Sharma a regular teenager from Delhi landed the starring role in Oscar winning Ang Lee's LIFE OF PI. At just 17 years, he beat more than 3,000 challengers, following a month long search and little did he know what was in store for him!
The role he played was about a boy who survives a perilous journey on a lifeboat with only a tiger for company had everyone sit back and raving about his brilliant debut performance. The actor was loved and appreciated by everyone in the film fraternity and was welcomed by open arms. Not just the fans and critics but notable names have publicly spoken about the fantastic experience of watching the film, adding to the unprecedented success of the 3D saga.
Well, it is surely a proud moment to be nominated in the prestigious BAFTA awards!
