In his own words, he has seen more failure than success in his life. The moment a filmmaker makes a statement like this at the very beginning of a conversation, you know for sure about the tone that would be captured in minutes to follow. This is what one gets as well from Abhishek Kapoor once he starts chatting about the struggle that he had to go through all over again to put together KAI PO CHE!, how life wasn't exactly a any bed of roses once he resumed work after ROCK ON! and how he feels that the time has come to create star-actors instead of picking on only the ones who are currently the reigning lot.
'See, we are such star conscious people and that obviously is not a good thing. We say ki usse nahi lenge, woh star nahi hai. Isse mat try karo, TV ke actor films mein nahi challte. I think that's bullsh@t,'' says Abhishek who started off a director with ARYAN before taking a break and then subsequently getting his due with ROCK ON!
''If you run after stars and their sons or the daughters, it doesn't quite work. You can't keep doing that. What we see out here in the industry though is that a script comes when a star has been locked. I think this is ridiculous. At least for me, making a proposal instead of a film doesn't work.''
Now here is hoping that KAI PO CHE! turns out to be a film which is more about a solid script than a proposal in the offering. With Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Yadav as the male leads and also starring Amrita Puri, KAI PO CHE! has music by Amit Trivedi and releases all over on 22nd February.
