GHANCHAKKAR has seen mixed response coming its way. Though neither critics nor aam junta has dismissed the film, the feedback has ranged from being good to average. The common observation though is that the film is truly different and comic portions are truly hilarious.
''That had to be the case,'' says Emraan Hashmi who has seen some good response coming his way from all ends, ''When a dramatic filmmaker makes a comedy, he is bound to set it apart. Rajkumar Gupta can't even be expected to make GHANCHAKKAR like other makers. Our film had three people who are known for their dramatic intense films, Rajkumar, Vidya and I. None of us had done a comedy before. If we had to do one, it had to be different.''
No wonder, the film has managed to find its maximum audience in multiplexes at major metros.
''It isn't one of those films where joke ke baad joke aata hai, gag ke baad gag aata hai. You have to keep thinking as well even as you laugh. The coming together of thrill and suspense element along with laughter is what sets GHANCHAKKAR apart,'' he adds.
With the kick-start of weekdays, one now looks forward to the distance that GHANCHAKKAR covers from this point on.
