This week saw the Hollywood venture, THE WOLVERINE, leading at the box-office. The 3D version of the film embarked on a 40-50 percent start. The sixth in the X-MEN Series, the film was keenly awaited globally.
There are no surprises though as far as the Hindi films are concerned with the Ranvir, Tusshar, Vishakha and Ravi Kissen starrer, BAJATEY RAHO, leading the pack (as we had already predicted) quite convincingly. The film opened to a decent response of 25-30 percent and improved during the latter shows touching 35-40 percent at some screens. Given the encouraging feedback, BAJATEY RAHO is expected to score well, especially at the multiplexes during the weekend.
The remaining releases of the week, which included Prateik-Amaya's ISSAQ and the Poonam Pandey starrer NASHA, turned out to be damp squibs. The performance of NASHA will especially be disappointing for those who were expecting the film to do well as it has opened to a below 10 percent start (barring a handful of single screens).
Meanwhile last Friday's RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA, starring Girish-Shruti, saw a decent first week netting 24-25 crore (to be validated). The other release of the same week, Nikhil Advani's D-DAY has also done well, netting 18 crore (to be validated) during the opening week from India.
